SlySi's Cobra (continued) June 2005 through to end of year- Dash, Instruments, transmission.. I had been looking at all sortfs of things for instrument panel. There is (Was) fek all choice to be honest. There's not a lot of vareity out there in this area. Found the system I wanted. Gorgous. All electronic. Does wizzy things when you turn ignition on.. can even add heads up display!! :-) So, we have Smiths guages in my own layout. Looked at the traditional layouts and didn't like. Saw the reason for some of it but.. tough. Motor coming together, Grrrr, and independant diff coming.. something is missing. Oh. Need to get power from motor to diff.. VISA time again. Looked at options. Would have loved a sequential box but the budget (cough) doesn't allow. 4 speed? 5 speed? Everything behind an LS motor is 6 speed. Why not? Ok. That means a Tremec T56 Transmission.Easy. Works for the Vettes and the Holdens..and alot of other sports cars. Ah. But we can still go a bit better without blowing wad of cash (VISA). The T56 is also in the Viper. With a somewhat higher power handling rating. Keisler Automotive. Good packages. Good reputation, as far as I can tell. So.. send me 1 Viper trans with the shifter moved forward please (don't like the bent gear levers that Cobras used) and Lakewood safety bellhousing.
Unfortunately.. to join these 2 itrems they also sent along an adapter plate..which weighs 13Kgs by itself!
Surely this great hunk of metal could have either had large holes cut into it to drop the weight or be made from aluminium. | ||||||||||||||||||||
