SlySi's Cobra (continued) September 2007 - Wheels. I mentioned how finding instruments was limited, I found the same for wheels. They are one of the stronegst components for personlising the style of a vehicle. Finding them in a stud pattern and offset suitable for the cobra was annoying. I eventually found one but it was a single cast piece and only came in limited size and offset. Only one option. Get what I want made (did I mention I was working to a budget?) Got in touch with a chap Gavin Bateman of 41 Degree wheels. "Sure, no problem." he says. So I send him the picture of the wheel I like and he starts at it in Soldiworks. After a bit of back and forth I get the impretion I'm not going to get exactly what's inthe picture but decide I like where it's gone anyway. Here are the pics of the wheels in their original colour of powder coated grey. They are a 3 piece rim with my custom center and Gavin can spin almost any offset in the shells. He also came up with the idea of putting the bolts that hold the wheel together in from the back, where normqally they are in the front and visible. For my project it's excellent. Cleaner, less cluttered. As far as numbers go: 17"s. 8" wide with 245 40s for fronts, 11"s with 275 30s for rear. All with 4.5" backspace offset.
